Central Tech offers courses that cover all aspects of basic machining principals.
The primary machines used in machining are the engine lathe (metal lathe), milling machine (both horizontal and, most typically, vertical) and a drill press. These and other machines can be either manual or automated. Machinists work in prototyping new parts, on production lines, and in repair and maintenance facilities.
In this course, you will be introduced on how to use a manual engine lathe and a vertical mill to make intricate, precise, and complex parts with a high degree of repeatable accuracy. Average starting salary of $19/hr.
Students will breakdown the fundamentals of print reading including identifying print symbols, understanding title blocks, interrupting revisions, extracting print dimensions, identifying geometric dimensions, and tolerances.

Precision Measurement:
Individuals will learn how to utilize common shop measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, ferler gauges, and rulers to mark precision measurements. This is a hands-on class with both MRTREC and SAE conversion.
Machining Math:
Individuals will learn how to convert fractional math statements to decimal equivalents, adding and subtracting decimals, solving common math problems such as feed calculations, and learn to pronounce statements as a machinists would say them.
Basic Metallurgy:
Metallurgy is a domain of materials science and engineering that studies the physical and chemical behavior of metallic elements, their inter-metallic compounds, and their mixtures (alloys).
